Overnight Triple Lane Closures and Full Traffic Stops on I-495 Near Georgetown Pike Exit 44 Planned Tonight, April 3, Weather Permitting

Work and closures will continue during overnight hours this week and through April for bridge girder work

FAIRFAX, VA - Weather permitting, crews plan to continue setting steel girders tonight, Wednesday, April 3, at the Georgetown Pike and Live Oak Drive bridges in McLean. This work is also scheduled to occur during overnight hours Thursday, April 4 and Friday, April 5, and will continue during overnight hours, Mondays through Fridays, through April as weather conditions allow.

Overnight Triple Lane Closures and Full Traffic Stops on I-495 North and South in Virginia Near Georgetown Pike Exit 44 Scheduled This Wednesday, March 27, and Thursday, March 28

Motorists should follow detour; Expect delays on I-495 North and South

Update: Wednesday, March 27, 2024, 1 p.m. Based on weather conditions, the bridge girder work and closures on I-495 in Virginia near McLean are cancelled for tonight, March 27. Work and closures remain scheduled for tomorrow night, March 28.

FAIRFAX, VA - On or about this Wednesday night, March 27, and Thursday night, March 28, three lanes of northbound and southbound I-495 (Capital Beltway) will be closed for crews to set steel girders at the Georgetown Pike and Live Oak Drive bridges in McLean, weather permitting. Intermittent traffic stoppages of up to 30 minutes each also will occur. The work is part of the 495 Express Lanes Northern Extension (495 NEXT) project.

Overnight Full Traffic Stops February 27 and 28 at Balls Hill Road and Georgetown Pike Intersection

Stoppages to occur between midnight and 5 a.m. for signal work

FAIRFAX, VA - Periodic overnight traffic stoppages are scheduled to occur at the intersection of Balls Hill Road and Georgetown Pike in McLean on Feb. 27 and Feb. 28. These stoppages, which may be up to 30 minutes each, will occur between the hours of 11:59 p.m. and 5 a.m. the following morning, and are necessary for crews to span wires for temporary signals as part of the 495 NEXT project.
