The 495 NEXT Interactive Map provides information about the project’s design and what is being constructed. Design elements and features are color coded according to the map legend. 495 NEXT is a design-build project, and details shown on this interactive map are subject to change and may be updated as the project's design is finalized.

How to Use the 495 NEXT Interactive Map
  • Use your mouse to navigate the map.
  • Click with your left mouse button to move anywhere on the map and hold, then drag the map across the screen, to pan your view of the map.
  • Rotate your mouse wheel to change the scale of the map (zoom in and out).
  • As you zoom in, more design details and project features will be visible.
  • If you're looking for more information about or near a specific location, type the address into the search box in the upper left-hand corner and hit enter or the search button to zoom to that location.
About the Icons 
  • Home icon for map legend

    Home Icon - Click on this button to reset the map view to the default zoom level.

  • Geolocate icon for map legend

    Geolocate Icon - Click to have the map zoom to your current location.

  • Plus minus icons for map legend

    Plus/Minus Buttons - Click to zoom in and out of the project area.

  • Layer list icon for map legend

    Layer List Icon - Click to turn different design elements and features on and off in the map.

  • Legend icon for map legend

    Legend Icon - Click to view what each of the data lines on the map represent.

  • Basemap icon for map legend

    Basemap Icon - Click to view the basemap gallery where you can change the background underneath the data lines.

  • Info icon for map legend

    Information Icon - Click to display information about the 495 Next project and instructions on how to use the interactive map.

 
 

The 495 Express Lanes Northern Extension study was an environmental study that proposed to extend the 495 Express Lanes by approximately three miles from the 495 and Dulles Toll Road interchange to the vicinity of the American Legion Bridge. Below is a map of the environmental study area associated with the study.
